…of media, images and space

Exhibition, Zennestraat 17, Brussels, August 2009

Zennestraat 17 is an old laboratory of the ministry of economic affairs. In 2009, it became the temporary location of different artistic organizations, such as Galerie Fortlaan, Croxhapox, Bains Connective, Constant,… Invited by Croxhapox in the summer, we explored the space and developed works in connection with this specific environment: abandoned office rooms in a precarious state.

Some rooms were nearly falling into ruins and others had been already partly re-painted for a previous exhibition. This heterogenous place offered different possibilities, from the white/black box, to the smoked yellow room with windows.

Starting from the topic of “extensions”, we found inspiration in the space itself, working with material found in situ, as well as bringing new images, objects into the space and extend or integrate them within the environment, thus creating new connections, new meanings.

The exhibition resulting from this exploration was rich in diversity, presenting mixed-media and digital installations along with photographic series, sound- and video-scapes.
